Q. What is it?

A. Every two months a group of Watford Park u3a members get together on a Sunday evening to dine, wine and socialise.

Q. Where is it held?

A. The cuisine varies between Chinese, Greek, Indian, Italian and Turkish. The group leaders choose a restaurant according to location, capacity, seating arrangements and price.

Q. How much does it cost? 

A. The leaders try to negotiate a group deal otherwise it will be the restaurant’s standard price. Most restaurants have an online menu and price list so that you can view in advance.

Q. What are the seating arrangements?

A. Tables of 6 or 8 adjacent to each other.

Q. Am I able to sit with my chosen group of friends?

A. The main purpose is to mix and socialise so the leaders publish a seating plan in advance. They  vary who sits next to whom at each event, though couples will be seated together if desired.

Q. How many people are invited to each event?

A. The club retains a list of up to 25 members all of whom are invited to each event by email. 

As restaurants generally don’t have that sort of capacity for groups, not everyone will be able to attend every event. Those missing out are given priority at the next event.

Q. Which months does it meet?

A. January, March, May, July, September, November

Q. Which day of the month does it meet?

A. Fourth Sundays

Q. What time does it meet?

A. 6:30pm. All diners are expected to be present for the start time.

Q. How about payment?

A. Individuals or couples will each pay the restaurant directly for themselves.

Q. Some restaurants require a deposit in advance. Who pays this?

A. The group leaders pay this. 

Deposits must be reimbursed on the dining day.

Diners who cancel too late to substitute, or are no-shows on the day must reimburse the leaders directly by cash, cheque or by bank transfer.

Q. What if I forget and don’t show?

A. You will receive an emailed reminder a few days before each event.

No-shows may have deprived someone else of a place. Those who repeatedly no-show will be dropped from the group.

Finally: By joining the club you are deemed to have accepted all the above.
