Otherwise known as Newkulele.
The aim of the class is to get members playing ukuleles and making music. Please feel free to join us and try the ukulele for yourself.
In no time at all members will see that this simple stringed instrument is capable of producing all sorts of music. The group uses basic chords and strumming patterns enabling members to develop music skills that they never realised they had. Most important of all the sessions are fun.
The classes started in August 2016. The group performs regularly under the name "The Newkulele Band" for care homes, retirement homes, fund raising events and after-lunch concerts. Recently Newkulele performed at the Hertfordshire Libraries 100th Anniversary (at North Watford Library) and at Kings Langley Library. Since 2023 the band has given over 40 performances, and during 2025 there have been many more. Highlights have included playing at Watford Football Club's Elton John Room, the Palace Theatre and the De Havilland Museum. We have also had many canal boat excursions when we sing and strum along the canal between Apsley and Hunton Bridge.
Come and join us!
