This interest group is for The Rock Bottom Band, Watford Park u3a's very own live rock band, specialising in music from the 1960s pop scene.

Public Events Coming Up

We have agreed with Sean and Ausra, who run the White Lion on the St Albans Road, to be their house band. Their pub is a "local" with a particularly good reputation for food. They don't want to turn it into another "music pub" but they do want to host occasional music evenings and The Rock Bottom Band will feature regularly.

Our next date there will be Thu 27th June. All White Lion gigs will be free and we would love to see you there.

We are available for organisation or private bookings. In fact we are actively seeking more gigs.

If you are looking for a band for an event please ask us first. You won’t be disappointed. We think we are probably the best 60s covers band in Hertfordshire (in our price bracket!!). Joking aside, we play to a good standard and you will be surprised how little we charge. We do it primarily for love of the music. We are quite  happy to pick from our extensive playlist to suit your particular requirements and preferences.

Recordings

We are primarily a live performance band but we have made some recordings. You can hear these on The Rock Bottom Band page on the Lemonrock website. Some were recorded in 2021 during our regular rehearsals - the sound isn't studio mix standard but it shows you what we would sound like in a live gig.  Others date back to 2017 when we held a session at the (now defunct) Titan Recording Studios in Watford.

About The Rock Bottom Band

As Watford Park u3a’s resident rock band, The Rock Bottom Band majors on 1960s covers (from the greats like The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks, Hollies, Shadows etc). We also have a repertoire of songs from the neighbouring 50s and 70s decades, and a few from more recently,  We now have considerable experience of playing pub gigs, dances and private parties and whilst most of our playing time is spent at regular rehearsals we are always looking for further opportunities to play and entertain publicly.

Our aim is to be able to provide a great evening's entertainment, tailored to your preferences, particularly for people of "our age" who can remember such a wealth of great music from our youth.

We are available for events both public and private. We don't charge for charitable events or of course for Watford Park u3a events. We would also be delighted to play for other u3a groups or for private events by arrangement.
